Business Development Manager – Ready to be tested in a bigger job?
You know selling inside out. And you’re a relationship builder – for you it’s all about the long term. Your track record in selling will have been in construction – with a build or civils contractor. The thing is you know you’re capable of more. Maybe you’re stifled by others where you are maybe you want the autonomy to do things your way or grow your own team.
Maybe all of the above…
In any event to become the kind of sales leader you know you can be – you need a broader scope.
You’ll take overall responsibility for business development in a growing civils/groundworks contractor. Their client base has a nice variety to it with national housebuilders and private developers being the main focus.  You’ll work closely with the Directors in the business and to shape, influence and take full ownership of business development activity to generate further growth from new and existing clients.
You’ll work from their Oxfordshire office but manage your own appointments and diary with the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week. No micro management here – it’s grown ups only.  More important than where you work is your desire to up the company’s PR and brand awareness with target clients to increase opportunities.
This business are an SME groundworks contractor who are already well-respected in groundworks and utilities 80% work of their work is repeat so you’ll know good communication and actively seeking feedback from current customers will be key. The business expects grow significantly in the coming years particularly in the utilities so this is where you’ll expect to drive growth and benefit from a lucrative bonus scheme.
First and foremost you’ll be a salesperson self-motivated and driven by your own personal delivery and the rewards you get from results. You’ll also have an eye on management and mentoring in the future – you’ll need those skills as your business development team grows.
