Quantity Surveyor – Not getting there quickly enough?

You’re a solid QS. You get results and maximise outcomes for the business. The problem is you aren’t being fully utilised – you know you’re capable of more – but there aren’t any opportunities for promotion in the short term. You’ve probably got your eye on being Commercial Manager – but you’ll need a different kind of business than the one you’re in to get there. Here you could get there in 3 years.

You’ll work as part of a small commercial team financially managing groundworks packages from an Oxfordshire office. Covering sites in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. You’ll manage 4 or 5 sites at any one time and to get cut your teeth in management mentor a junior QS.

This company are an SME groundworks business. Quality is top of the agenda and there’s no micro-management it’s grown up right-first-time ethos. Trust is king so you’ll be able to work from home 1 or 2 days per week.

First and foremost you’ll be a good QS albeit one probably without the career path that they want at the moment. You’ll be inclined towards managing or mentoring others which should help you in your future role here as a senior manager.
