Project Manager – Groundworks – No glass ceilings or favourites
How many times have you walked onto site and thought, “Why am I the only one who seems to give a s***?”
Ever felt like you’re managing chaos with a cracked phone, a leaky portaloo, and promises made by people
who haven’t seen a site since the Nokia 3310 was cutting-edge tech?
Still being told, “We’ll support you,” by someone who’s never worn steel-toes or stood in a trench while trying to explain Section 278 to a clipboard warrior?
You know the drill.
The project’s already late before you start.
The drawings don’t match the reality.
The labour’s half a crew down and the client thinks you’re David Blaine.
But here’s the question: what if you could actually manage – not just firefight?
What if you had a commercial team that wasn’t allergic to site visits?
What if the directors didn’t vanish the second the ground gets tough?
What if you were actually backed to run jobs your way – with proper support, grown-up decisions, and a
leadership team that knows drainage isn’t just a budget line?
Too much to ask? Not here.
The Company:
Established. Respected. Not flashy. Just solid.
They’ve been laying concrete, digging deep, and making clients happy across industrial units, schools, and commercial builds for years.
They don’t chase silly margins or bid jobs blind. They win work by doing things properly – and keep hold of clients because of that.
They back their Project Managers.
Not with pep talks and buzzwords – but with decent site teams, a clear programme, and the trust to make the call without three sign-offs and a Teams meeting.
Want to move up? Good.
They promote from within. No glass ceilings. No favourites. Just results. You run jobs well, manage your team, and make the business better – and you’ll be rewarded. Simple.
The Role:
You’ll be running commercial, industrial and education groundworks packages from cradle to grave.
For proper build contractors across the West Midlands.
From kick-off to handover. From muck-away to final sweep.
You’ll be working with experienced foremen, decent QS’s, and site staff who actually show up.
Can you manage the programme without breaking a sweat? Been doing it for years.
Can you deal with clients, subs, local councils, and the odd engineer who still thinks kerbs float on fresh air? Absolutely.
This isn’t a desk job.
This is for someone who still likes being out on the tools when needed, who leads from the front, and who gets a buzz from seeing the job come good.
What’s on Offer:
-
A strong salary and car or allowance.
-
Bonus that’s linked to performance – not fairy tales.
-
Clear path to senior management.
-
Real support – not just emails marked “URGENT” from someone in accounts.
-
Projects that make sense – with realistic deadlines, proper margins, and actual follow-through.
So here’s the final question:
Do you want to keep being the one who fixes other people’s mess – or do you want to work somewhere that lets you build properly?
You decide.
